Corporate lunches are common in almost all organizations. If you are an entry-level employee or new to a certain management level that engages in fine dining, it is essential to learn the etiquette surrounding these parties. Wine is a part of a corporate lunch catering service menu, and below are some tips you should know.
No sniff tests on corporate lunch
It will be extremely embarrassing for you and entertaining for other people to perform a minute-long sniff test on a cheap bottle of wine on a regular lunch. This becomes even more inappropriate if the waiter served you a full glass instead of the small splash meant for sniff testing. In that case, sniffing should be saved for high-end restaurants and vineyards. As for tasting, you can sav our the taste in your mouth to check whether the wine is fresh or has been tainted.
Tilt your Glass
Most people in their first corporate lunch catering services hold the glass upright instead of tilting it a bit. Tilting helps avoid the formation of bubbles that take up half the glass space before the glass is full. This ensures that there are no awkward pauses as your waiter waits for the bubbles to fizzle down to fill up your glass.
Hold the glass right.
Your hands are warm, and they radiate this heat equally fast. While it might feel relieving to cup the wine glass and enjoy the chill, this only makes your wine warm and less enjoyable. Instead, if you are taking a white wine or champagne, hold it by the bottom of the stem. On the other hand, a glass of red wine or a rose should be held as though you are cupping a tennis ball, and the stem should fall between your fingers.
Corporate lunch catering services make company lunches as enjoyable as possible. Ensure not to ruin the fun by not knowing how to handle your food and your drink.
